Author Visits: A Favorite Part of my Author Journey

Throughout my journey one thing has remained consistent, I love interacting with people, especially the little ones.  Long before I declared myself an entrepreneur in 2019 and discovered that I was a writer in 2020, I knew I was destined to work with children.  I thrive on their honesty and feel that I am truly able to be myself.  The questions they ask keep me on my toes and they open my eyes to new possibilities.

Every time I read to a group of children I walk away motivated and eager to not only to return to the school but to connect with more and more schools.  Each reading has been unique and absolutely magical.  At my first reading this fall every child in the class hugged Bella and I.  In December I walked into the classroom to see children holding their copy of “Bella’s Christmas Cookies” and reading along with me.  This month during a reading of “Bella’s Trip to Paris” 250 children, ages 5-7, clapped in unison when Bella’s friends threw her a welcome back party in the story.  These moments of connecting with the kiddos and seeing your art touch someone is indescribable.  My heart leaps even further when the teachers tell me that the children ask them for days when I am coming back next.

As an artist, creator, and dancer, I have learned the importance of enjoying and appreciating each step of the process.  Yes, some pieces are more fun than others but I can honestly say that interacting with the kiddos and seeing their faces light up when I enter a room is truly priceless.  Hearing a child say “I really love your stories” is a precious gift.  I am blessed that this also happens on a personal level too.  This past Christmas I gifted my nephew two of my books and his response was “Elephants!!!”.  Whether I am before 250 smiling faces or in the presence of one, my emotional tank is filled with both love and confidence that drives me to keep reaching for the moon.

Love Always,

Kristina Lucia xoxo
