Magic of Christmas

Christmas Day is tomorrow morning!  I am so excited!  I wrote a letter to Santa this year and even got to see him in person.  He is so nice and listened kindly when I told him I wanted the dream house for my ponies.  I have been trying so hard to be a good little girl.  Mommy said I have been very well behaved too.  I hope this means that I get my dream house!

Mommy told me that everyone is coming over for dinner tonight like they did at Thanksgiving.  Tomorrow we will go to Grandma’s house for dinner!  This makes me even more excited!  Thanksgiving was so much fun and I love going to Grandma’s house.

The day seems very long.  I play by the Christmas tree and then Daddy and I watch a Christmas movie.  Mommy is running around cooking and cleaning.  I still don’t understand.  The holidays are fun- why does she need to work?  Soon she comes in the family room and sits on the sofa with us.  She looks tired but smiles at me.  All three of us snuggle together.

The doorbell rings and my cousins enter the room.  There are so many people hugging me and so many bags of presents.  Then Grandma comes in and run to her.  I love Grandma so much!

Soon Mommy calls us in for dinner.  Everyone is laughing and toasting.  It’s a lot of fun!  Not long after dinner I say goodnight to everyone as Mommy said I need to get to bed because Santa will be here soon!  I kiss Grandma good night and then race up the stairs with Mommy.  Although I promise to go to sleep, I still try to keep my eyes open so that I can hear Santa’s sleigh bells!  I am tired and fall asleep.

The following morning I wake up and wonder if it is too early!  What if Santa is still here?  I strain to hear any sounds.  I decide to go to Mommy and Daddy.  I open their door and Mommy is already tying her bathrobe.  Daddy is yawning and pulling on his slippers.  “Let’s go and see what Santa left you, “  Mommy says.  I take her hand and Daddy follows us.

I walk into the family room and there in front of the Christmas tree is my dream house for my ponies!  Four houses, swimming pool, courtyard, stickers, furniture…  I squeal with delight and thank Santa with all my heart!!!  I love Christmas time so much.

Bella’s Mom

It is Christmas Eve and Bella is on cloud 18! She is so excited for Christmas morning.  This is a special year for all of us.  She wrote her first letter to Santa and visited him with smiles this year.  She asked for the dream house for her ponies and wants it so badly.  As a result, she has been very well behaved.  I can’t complain about that!

I explained to Bella  that everyone is coming over for dinner tonight.  It will be similar to Thanksgiving and then tomorrow we will go to Grandma’s house.  After I had Bella, my Mom and I agreed to share the holiday and split the work between us.  Although I am not sure mentioning Mom’s name was a good idea because Bella is now on cloud nineteen!

The day goes by all too quickly.  Luckily, Bob took the day off and is watching Bella while I run around cleaning and cooking for tonight’s dinner.  I wrap up everything on the to do list and join them in the family room.  They are snuggling on the sofa and my heart melts.  They both smile at me and I join them on the sofa.  It is a beautiful moment of just the three us with the Christmas tree and watching a heartwarming movie.  After all, the holidays are about having fun too!

About an hour later the doorbell rings and all the relatives enter.  It is a sea of hugs and whirl of wrapped presents.  Bella lights up when she sees Mom and runs to her arms.  These two are really two peas in a podd!

I proceed to set up dinner and soon call everyone into the dining room.  Everyone is laughing and toasting.  Although I am tired, my heart is full.  Soon I tell Bella she needs to say goodnight to everyone because Santa will be here soon!  She kisses Mom good night and then races up the stairs with me.  I wonder how long it will take her to go to sleep.  When I was that little, I would fight sleep for the chance to hear Santa’s sleigh bells.

I join everyone in the family room.  I try to relax but am anxious because Bob and I still need to set up Bella’s dream house.  (Santa brought the toy early but unfortunately he and his elves did not have a time slot available to assemble the estate.)

After everyone leaves, Bob pulls the box out of its hiding place.  There is so much to assemble!  Houses, pool, furniture stickers…  We work steadily and I remind myself this is for our daughters happiness.  At 2 AM we finish.  I am exhausted and Bob’s face mirrors my fatigue.  We creep upstairs and fall asleep quickly.

At 6:30 AM I hear stirring and know it’s Bella.  I nudge Bob who is still sound asleep.  I feel bad waking him but I don’t want him to miss anything either.  As I am tying my robe, our door know turns and in comes our daughter.  “Let’s go and see what Santa left you, “  I say.  I take her hand and Bob follows us.

Bella walks into the family room  first and  sees her dream house in front of the tree.  The joy on her face is priceless and I look at Bob.  My feelings of exhaustion evaporate and I focus on our daughter.  She squeals with delight and thanks Santa over and over again.  I will never forget this moment.  I love Christmas time so much.
