A Thoughtful Gift

Happy New Year!!!  I pray you had a wonderful holiday season and am so happy to be back to the blog.

As we close out the season and dive into the new year, it’s refreshing to pause and reflect. Although this holiday season  is closing, my heart is still full from many acts of kindness. It is a pleasure to share in this post a story of one particular gift that encompasses feelings of joy and more.

Dear Readers,

Happy New Year!!!  Did you enjoy your holidays?   I hope you were able to relax and savor every moment of quality time with loved ones.  Honestly, I approached the Christmas season with many worries but my angles came through for me!  I spent quality time with friends, decorated cookies for Santa (yes, I wore a special Christmas apron), and thanks to the elves (aka the post office) I had presents under my tree.

As this season closes, a line from “A Miracle on 34th Street” runs through my mind.  “Christmas is not just a day.  It is a feeling.”  This line is very resonating as there are so many memories I have gained this season.  What touched me the most is the gifts I received from my friend’s children.  From cake decorating supplies, cool pajamas, and more my heart is full from the kindness of these children.  My 3-month-old nephew wowed me with his gift of a personalized cookie tin and special note.

Merry Christmas Aunt Kristina!  Hope you enjoy baking cookies this Christmas.

Love, Caleb

Reading this note, I imagine him growing up and pulling a kitchen chair to the counter to assist me in the measuring and pouring of ingredients for family recipes.  I pray the opportunity arises where I can share stories of his grandmother.  How much she loved her kitchen.   The beloved apron that she always wore.  How on every holiday she would be up first and we would find her at the head of her kitchen island quietly peeling vegetables.  These stories keep our loved ones close to our hearts and smiles on our faces.

As I pack my Christmas decorations away, I am holding onto to this note and the Christmas feelings of kindness and joy.  Although the tree it not up in my living room, I still have a wonderful reason to smile.

Love Always,

Kristina Lucia xoxo

P.S.  Here is my Candy Cane Cookie recipe.  These are the cookies that I stored in my new tin.  I can’t wait for the day that I can bake these with my nephew!
